Today, there are not many trading platforms where you can sell carbon emission credits. Asia's best known is the ETS opened in Korea in 2015. A first municipal ETS was opened in Tokyo recently. In North America, the most prominent ETS is the one organized by the Western Climate Initiative (WCI). It operates in several regions, including Quebec, Nova Scotia (Canada) and California (USA).

By and large, carbon emission credit prices in America and Asia are lower than in Europe. For example, CO₂ emission credits were traded between $16-18 per tonne at WCI in 2020.

There are also companies around the world that buy carbon emission credits directly from farmers. Their prices are based on the carbon prices at the nearest regional ETS. For example, Indigo Carbon (funded by JP Morgan and Barclays) estimated CO₂ emission credit price at $20 per tonne on the average in 2020.
